During six-week research pediatrists have interrogated 9-12 children with the diagnosed asthma about their physical and mental health, including an alarm estimation. Clinical physicians have defined close interrelation between threat of pulmonary dysfunction and signs of alarm as a result of separation from parents. However also it has appeared, that family dinners were the protective factor against deterioration of state of health of the child during food consumption.

Therapists of University of Illinois say, that members of a family play the important role in rendering assistance to children in emotional management of symptoms the asthmas therefore well organised, quiet environment during meal allows to forget for a while about illness and to breathe more freely while chaotic atmosphere on the contrary strengthens anxiety. Children-asthmatics especially require regular and habitual family dinners as they feel vulnerable for an unexpected attack of suffocating cough. In the absence of treatment excessive uneasiness can lead further to panic frustration, in turn multiplying attacks of the complicated breath, experts warn. Traditional family dinners allow parents of children with a chronic asthma regularly to check weight of symptoms of a painful condition, to supervise their state of health and quickly to remind them of necessity to accept a medicine.
